Meadows:  Aqua Knobby, Black Widow   8/4-5/90
Subject:      Tuolumne rain festival

     C family went up with John+Karen+Kyle Holt (I did the Nose with John
back in 85, but he quit climbing for awhile to do bike racing).  On Saturday
I did Aqua Knobby 5.9 with John (my 3rd trip), and later Nancy led me up
Black Widow 5.9.  Did not find the reported retrobolts, but there was a
fixed pin halfway up, and several shallow pockets that might accept TCUs
(1" and .75" Metolius, while Nancy had neither of these).  Rest of the day
was spent at beach babysitting the kids or at Lembert Dome picnic area.
   On Sunday, the Holts wanted to leave early, so C family went looking for
Joel and Joe at East Cottage Dome.  TRed 1-2 pitches that Joel had led before
thunder and sprinkles set in.  Later in the day we looked at Cowabunga and
Into the Void (below Daff Dome), but it started sprinkling again when we
were going to set up TRs.  There is a fairly useful xerox-style guide by
Steve Schneider which I should have a copy of by next week (has info on
Glen Aulin, Shipoopi, etc.).  Glad to see it had the second pitch of Bachar
Yerian uprated to 5.11b.
