Memorial Day 1989 -- Needles (Sequoia Nat'l Forest) with Joel, Nancy and Renata.

Joel + Nancy did Lady of the Needles while I babysat and established a 2-bolt
belay/rap anchor at the top of Spooky.  Then Joel + Nancy tr'd Spooky.  When
Nancy + Renata left to get out of the wind, Joel and I did a quick ascent of
Airy Interlude (we skipped the lower pitch).  Days 2-3 were cold due to wind,
so Joel and I were unable to try the Don Juan Wall.  We did the first pitch,
but cold hands sent us down.  Sun was on The Entity so we did it, via a 5.8
variation which avoids the runout 5.10+/5.11 crux.  The upper pitches had nice
5.10c thin cracks; then we rapped.  Day 3:  we looked at several routes, and
ended up doing the first pitch of Innersanctum 5.9+ and then traversing onto
Brute Force.  We'll return for the upper pitches and for the Don Juan.
